OUR HISTORY
25 Years of Faithful Service
In the year 2000, the Catholic Filipino–Australian Chaplaincy of Brisbane recognized a growing need for a ministry dedicated to supporting married couples in their faith and family life. At that time, the Marriage Enrichment Seminar (MES) in Sydney had already been serving couples for twelve fruitful years, becoming a model of renewal and transformation.
Moved by this vision, our Chaplain, Fr. Dom Flores, SVD, together with his Pastoral Associate, Sr. Necy Esguerra, a Canossian Sister, reached out to Fr. Nards Mercene, the Filipino Chaplain in Sydney. Their shared desire was simple yet profound: to bring to Brisbane the same life‑giving experience that had blessed so many couples in Sydney.
With their collaboration, the very first Marriage Enrichment Seminar in Brisbane (MES‑1) was held on 25–26 February 2000, attended by 12 pioneering couples. This humble beginning marked the birth of what would become a lasting ministry for Filipino families in Brisbane.
Over the past 25 years, the Marriage Enrichment Movement–Brisbane has faithfully continued this mission, organizing 28 Marriage Enrichment Seminars and touching the lives of hundreds of couples. Through God’s grace and the dedication of volunteers, MEM has grown into a vibrant community committed to strengthening marriages, nurturing families, and building a legacy of love rooted in Christ.

Mission
We, the members of Marriage Enrichment Movement-Brisbane, commit ourselves to becoming practising Christian families whose mission is to help couples in the community to strengthen their marital and family bonds by conducting FREE marriage enrichment seminars and other related activities.
Vision
We envision a community where every couple reflects God’s love—strong, joyful, and anchored in faith. A community where couples walk together in unity, families flourish in grace, and homes become beacons of hope for generations to come.
We dream of a movement that transforms lives— a movement rooted in family values, compassion, and faith. A movement that reaches out to couples in need and in times of disaster, where wounded relationships find healing, where love is renewed, and where families rise to become living witnesses of God’s light in the world.
Our vision is a vibrant, faith‑filled community of practising Christian families—growing, serving, and inspiring others through the power of God’s love.
